The Children's Choir of Saint Elisabeth Convent

The Children's Choir of St. Elisabeth Convent in Minsk was created in October 2015 with the blessing of the rector, Archpriest Andrey Lemeshonok. The choir is led by its founder and artistic director, Matushka Maria Bakhvalova, and the concertmaster Olga Prokhorova. The choir consists of the parishioners' children (boys and girls aged 7 to 16) and takes active part in the Convent's parish life. The young choristers participate regularly in concert programs and festivals organized by the Belarusian Orthodox Church.

In the spring of 2018, the choir held a pilgrimage and a concert trip to Russia. The children visited the Holy Trinity Sergius Lavra and gave concerts at the Moscow Theological Academy and the Nikolo-Solbinsky Convent.

In June 2019, the Children's Choir of St. Elisabeth Convent went on its first European tour. The singers took part in the Sixth International Festival of Sacred Choral Music in Nis (Serbia), called Muzički Edikt. They sang a concert program of spiritual chants at St. Sava Cathedral in Belgrade and performed at St. Nicholas Cathedral in Vienna (Austria).

The choir's repertoire is diverse and includes works by contemporary authors, arrangements of folk songs, and sacred music. The choir places special emphasis on working on liturgical hymns and participating in Liturgy. The young singers study Macedonian, Georgian, Byzantine and Valaam chants.
