They are the apostles of the Seventy, mentioned by St Paul in his Epistle to the Romans. Apostle Andrew made Stachys the Bishop of Byzantium, Amplias and Urban became bishops of Macedonia, Narcissus served as the Bishop of Athens, and Aristobulus as the Bishop of Britain. Only two – Stachys and Aristobulus – reposed in peace, the rest died as martyrs.
