The choir has its origins in the amateur singing group of lay sisters serving at the National Psychiatric Hospital in the village of Novinki.
After the monastery was officially established in 1999, many of the choir members took the monastic vows. Thus the ensemble changed its name into the Monastic Choir.
The choir adheres to the ancient choral tradition of Znamenny chant and its variety, the Valaam chant. On Sundays and feast days, they also perform Byzantine, Greek, Old Bulgarian, Macedonian, and Georgian chants.
The Male Choir of St. Elisabeth Convent is an active liturgical choir. Founded in 2001 by the monastic brethren, it has undergone several line-up changes. Today the Choir consists of laymen, most of whom work at the Convent.
The repertoire of the Male Choir is based on ancient two-part chants, such as Znamenny, Valaam, Kievan, Byzantine, etc. In shaping its own sounding, the Choir takes a cue from the authentic chant of the Valaam Transfiguration Monastery, often described as a fusion of Byzantium and the Russian North with its severe nature.
The children's choir of St. Elisabeth Convent in Minsk was created in October 2015 with the blessing of the rector, Archpriest Andrey Lemeshonok. It is led by its founder and artistic director, Matushka Maria Bakhvalova, and the concertmaster Olga Prokhorova.
The choir consists of the parishioners' children (boys and girls aged 7 to 16) and takes active part in the Convent's parish life. The young choristers participate regularly in concert programs and festivals organized by the Belarusian Orthodox Church.
"Rejoice" is the name of a choir founded in 2011 by six sophomores of the Minsk Theological College united by their love for the Valaam chant. Today, the majority of the singers are theological school graduates.
The choir's singing career is almost purely liturgical. It consists of regular rehearsals and services at the Convent, as well as serving in hospitals and boarding homes. This has had a great influence on the repertoire of the choir and its artistic identity.
